The road to the medals: We introduce the different categories and competitions of the IKA/Culinary Olympics 2020. This time: National and Junior National Teams.
On the four competition days from 15 to 18 February 2020, the participants of the IKA/Culinary Olympics have only one objective: to gain as many points as possible. They work with high concentration and always under the rigorous eyes of the omnipresent jury. Every individual plate must be perfect since the competitors do not know which one is going to be judged. The results are ingenious ideas and creations which participants and visitors will still remember years later.
During the IKA/Culinary Olympics, chefs from about 70 nations are competing – on their own or in teams. We introduce the different competitions and categories. This time: the National and Junior National Teams.

The great competition between countries: when it’s all about seeing your own country performing at its best, even the most experienced chefs start to sweat. The competitions take place in the evening.
- Competition: Restaurant of Nations – Unique creations will be produced when the most experienced chefs from different countries light the Olympic flame on the stove. In the Restaurant of Nations, every day, eight different National Teams will cook a three-course menu for 110 persons each.
- Competition: Chef’s Table – At the Chef’s Table, visitors will see every movement made by the chefs at close quarters. That’s because they will sit and eat directly at the Teams’ cooking areas. Every day, eight different National Teams will cook a seven-course menu for twelve persons each. The courses comprise – among others – dips, cold and hot plates and petit fours. A complete vegan course is also included.
