The German Chefs Association, Verband der Köche Deutschlands (VKD), has managed to procure important partners for the IKA/Culinary Olympics (14th to 19th February 2020) which will take place in conjunction with the INTERGASTRA 2020, the leading trade fair for the hotel and catering industry. The common motivation to participate in the IKA/Culinary Olympics is their passion for the culinary profession.
With less than six months to go, before the start of the next IKA/Culinary Olympics, the countdown for the world’s oldest and largest international culinary art exhibition has already started. Once again, over 2,000 chefs from more than 60 nations will participate in culinary competitions, which will take place from 14th to 19th February in Stuttgart. VKD President, Andreas Becker, is looking forward to this event with great anticipation: “Those of us living the tradition, must also look towards the future. In this 25th edition of the IKA/Culinary Olympics we venture into new territory, while retaining our old strengths – the ones that shaped our association and the team competitions.” Once more, the VKD was able to procure renowned partners who actively support and look forward to the upcoming edition of this culinary super event. These include MKN, the German specialist for thermal professional kitchen technology and exclusive partner of the IKA/Culinary Olympics. Other confirmed sponsors are Metro, Germany’s leading wholesale establishment, Cool Compact, Germany’s largest manufacturer of professional refrigeration appliances and equipment, Edgar Fuchs GmbH, a supplier of planning, configuration and implementation services for gastronomy projects, as well as the porcelain manufacturer RAK Porcelain, which was developed specifically for the requirements of upscale gastronomic outlets.
The IKA/Culinary Olympics is an event where chefs from every corner of the world meet. From young chefs to executive chefs, they will all be under the scrutiny of the jury while creating experiential, unique culinary miracles. During the competitions, the jury will not only evaluate the taste and presentation of the dishes, but also the overall work organisation and time management. As an exclusive partner, MKN will provide all 22 competition kitchens of the IKA/Culinary Olympics with premium, state-of-the-art professional kitchen technology – to ensure that the teams benefit from ideal conditions, for quick and precise work processes during the competition in all disciplines. MKN is known for its unmatched quality and reliability – and these characteristics are exactly what counts in a competition scenario. “MKN is strongly committed to the IKA/Culinary Olympics and supports the world’s oldest and largest culinary art exhibition. Both are linked by long tradition, the passion for cooking and a pronounced internationality,” says Martin Ubl, MKN’s Authorised Representative and Vice President Sales & Marketing.
During the IKA/Culinary Olympics, the Cool Compact appliances will also be used. As an official IKA/Culinary Olympics partner, Cool Compact shows its dedication to the industry by fitting the competition kitchens with their equipment. “We are delighted that, once more, all participants can rely on our appliances,” states Andreas Lindauer, Director Sales & Marketing of Cool Compact. “The German Chefs Association is the most important mouthpiece for chefs in Germany. Consequently, the support of the Culinary Olympics is a matter of honour for us.”
The Edgar Fuchs GmbH is also delighted to be one of the official partners of the IKA/Culinary Olympics. Currently with six sites in Germany and one in Switzerland, the family-run business has developed into one of the leading suppliers of planning, configuration and implementation services for gastronomic outlets. With this passion, the company wants to support their colleagues in the IKA/Culinary Olympics competition kitchens in conjunction with the German Chefs Association during this mega event. “We are very excited that our work allows us to contribute to the creation of outstanding, amazing culinary art during the competition days,” says Marie Berner of the Edgar Fuchs GmbH. “We are very proud to be one of the sponsors of this international competition.”
As the organiser of this event, the VKD offers young talents a stage and the opportunity to show their potential. The IKA/Culinary Olympics and its partners will be multifaceted, colourful and international. With the support of our partners, we as the VKD are looking forward to stimulating competition days.
